It also underwrites, originates, and services multifamily mortgage loans through conduit and commercial mortgage-backed securities programs.

The company operates through two primary segments. The Structured Business segment focuses on originating and investing in bridge loans, mezzanine financing, preferred equity, and real estate-related joint ventures and securities. The Agency Business segment involves underwriting and servicing multifamily mortgage loans for securitization programs. This dual structure allows the company to generate returns through both direct origination and portfolio management as well as mortgage servicing activities.

Arbor Realty Trust maintains a headquarters in Uniondale, New York, and operates with approximately 659 full-time employees. The company qualifies as a real estate investment trust for federal income tax purposes, which requires it to distribute at least 90 percent of taxable income to shareholders annually. It was incorporated in Maryland in 2003.
