Founded in 1939 and headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, Brown & Brown is an insurance broker and services firm with operations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and other international markets. The company markets and sells property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, personal insurance, and related risk management and consulting services to commercial entities, public organizations, professionals, and individual customers. It also operates non-insurance businesses serving automobile and recreational vehicle dealers.

The company operates through two primary segments. Its Retail segment provides property and casualty and employee benefits insurance products, personal insurance, specialty insurance, risk management consulting, loss control services, and claims processing. This segment also includes dealer-related service businesses. The Specialty Distribution segment comprises wholesale brokerage operations and specialty insurance businesses focused on professional liability coverage for sectors including dental, legal, eyecare, and financial services. This segment also manages specialty programs for public entities and insurance carriers, operates excess and surplus lines placement services through independent agents and brokers, and provides program management services under the Arrowhead Programs brand.

With approximately 22,888 full-time employees, the company operates at a significant scale within the insurance brokerage industry. Brown & Brown is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and maintains a market capitalization of $23.8 billion.
