About Ellington Financial Inc.

Based in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, Ellington Financial Inc. is a mortgage REIT that acquires and manages a diversified portfolio of mortgage-related and financial assets. The company operates primarily through two segments: its Investment Portfolio and Longbridge, which specializes in reverse mortgage loans and associated financial assets. The firm's holdings span residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) across multiple categories including prime jumbo, Alt-A, non-qualified mortgage (non-QM), manufactured housing, and subprime loans, as well as government-agency-guaranteed RMBS. The company also invests in commercial mortgage-backed securities, residential and commercial mortgage loans, consumer asset-backed securities, collateralized loan obligations, derivatives, and equity stakes in loan origination companies.

As a qualified REIT, Ellington Financial distributes at least 90 percent of its taxable income to shareholders, generating revenue primarily from investment portfolio gains, net interest income, and operating fees. The company was incorporated in Delaware in 2007 and qualifies as a REIT for federal income tax purposes, allowing it to pass investment returns directly to shareholders while avoiding entity-level taxation. The firm maintains exposure to multiple asset classes and market segments within mortgage finance, allowing diversification across residential and commercial lending products and borrower credit profiles.
