Its core banking operations encompass deposit products including demand deposits, savings accounts, money market deposits, and time deposits, alongside a diversified loan portfolio spanning commercial real estate, commercial and industrial lending, agricultural and agricultural real estate loans, residential real estate (both owner and non-owner occupied), and consumer loans. The company also originates construction and land development financing and multifamily residential loans, in addition to municipal lending to support infrastructure projects.

Beyond traditional banking, First Mid Bancshares generates revenue through complementary financial services. The company offers wealth management services comprising estate planning and investment advisory to individuals, employee benefit consulting for businesses, and farm management with brokerage services. Insurance operations represent an additional segment, providing property and casualty insurance, senior insurance products, and group medical coverage to businesses, as well as personal lines insurance to individuals.

The company operates with approximately 1,170 full-time employees and maintains a market capitalization of roughly $1.0 billion.
