Hartford Insurance Group operates as a diversified property and casualty insurer providing coverage to individual and business customers across the United States, United Kingdom, and select international markets. The company was founded in 1810 and maintains headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut. Its insurance offerings encompass workers' compensation, commercial property and liability, automobile, general and professional liability, package business policies, umbrella coverage, fidelity and surety, marine, and reinsurance products. For personal insurance customers, the company offers automobile, homeowners, and personal umbrella coverages.

The organization structures its operations through five primary segments. Business Insurance provides commercial coverage to small and mid-sized businesses through regional offices, branches, and independent agents and brokers. Personal Insurance delivers individual automobile and homeowners policies. Property & Casualty Other Operations handles specialized coverages, including asbestos and environmental exposures. The Employee Benefits segment offers group life, disability, and other group coverages to employer groups and associations, along with disability administration and leave management services. Hartford Funds manages and distributes mutual funds and exchange-traded funds across various asset classes through broker-dealers, financial advisers, and defined contribution plans.

The company employs approximately 19,200 full-time employees and operates through regional offices, branches, sales centers, and distribution networks spanning independent retail and wholesale agents, brokers, and reinsurance intermediaries.
