Huntington Ingalls Industries designs, builds, overhauls, and repairs military vessels for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. The company's primary product portfolio includes nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines, non-nuclear surface combatants and amphibious assault ships, and national security cutters. It also provides refueling, overhaul, and inactivation services for nuclear-powered carriers, along with naval nuclear support services encompassing fleet maintenance, design work, and reactor prototype operations.

The company operates through three business segments. Ingalls handles construction of non-nuclear ships, including amphibious assault vessels and surface combatants. Newport News focuses on nuclear-powered ships and carrier overhaul and refueling services. Mission Technologies provides C5ISR (command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) systems, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for military operations, cyberspace and electronic warfare solutions, uncrewed autonomous systems, platform modernization, and critical nuclear operations support.

Headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, Huntington Ingalls operates as a major U.S. defense contractor with approximately 44,000 full-time employees. The company serves the federal government through contracts with the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. It was incorporated in Delaware and traces its origins to 1886.
