M&T Bank Corporation operates as a bank holding company providing retail and commercial banking services across the United States through its primary subsidiaries, Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company and Wilmington Trust, National Association. The company offers a comprehensive range of credit products, deposit accounts, and banking services to individual consumers, small businesses, middle-market enterprises, and large commercial clients. Product offerings include commercial and real estate lending, automobile and recreational financing, residential mortgages, home equity products, credit cards, cash management services, merchant services, and payroll processing.

The company's operations are organized into three primary segments. The Commercial Bank segment serves middle-market and large commercial customers with commercial lending, leasing, letters of credit, and credit facilities. The Retail Bank segment serves consumers and small businesses through deposit products, consumer lending, mortgages, and transaction services delivered via branch network, telephone, internet, and automated teller machines. The Institutional Services and Wealth Management segment provides trustee and agency services, investment management, personal trust and planning services, and investment products including mutual funds and annuities primarily for corporate and institutional clients.
