Neogen Corporation develops and manufactures diagnostic products and services focused on food and animal safety. The company operates across two primary segments: Food Safety and Animal Safety. The Food Safety segment supplies test kits and diagnostic solutions to detect contaminants, pathogens, and adulterants in human food and animal feed, including tests for foodborne pathogens, natural toxins, allergens, pesticide residues, and drug residues. This segment also offers software systems for result analysis and storage, laboratory services, culture media products, and sanitation testing solutions. Its customer base spans milling and grain producers, meat and poultry processors, dairy operations, beverage manufacturers, food service providers, and diagnostic laboratories.

The Animal Safety segment provides reagents, test kits, and genomics services for veterinary diagnostics, livestock breeding, and life science research. Products include immunoassay reagents, veterinary instruments and disposables, animal health supplements, pest control products, and DNA genotyping and sequencing services. This segment serves companion animal veterinarians, livestock producers, breed associations, diagnostic laboratories, universities, and government agencies.

Neogen employs approximately 2,974 full-time employees and maintains operations internationally, with headquarters in Lansing, Michigan. The company was incorporated in Michigan in 1981 and trades on the Nasdaq exchange.
