Founded in 1922 and headquartered in Wall, New Jersey, the company operates as a regulated utility while also pursuing diversified energy-related investments and services.

The company operates through four primary segments. The Natural Gas Distribution segment provides regulated utility services and manages capacity and storage, representing its core business. The Clean Energy Ventures segment develops solar installation projects across the northeastern and midwestern United States, including New Jersey, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. The Energy Services segment engages in natural gas transportation and storage capacity transactions and wholesale energy operations. The Storage and Transportation segment invests in energy-related infrastructure ventures and provides home services including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance sales and installation, along with management of commercial real estate properties.

With 1,376 full-time employees, New Jersey Resources operates as a mid-cap utility company with a market capitalization of approximately $5.5 billion and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
