Founded in 1920, Scholastic Corporation publishes and distributes children's books across print, digital, and audiobook formats in the United States and internationally. The company owns and manages a significant portfolio of original intellectual properties including Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Captain Underpants, and Wings of Fire, alongside licensed properties such as Peppa Pig and Pokémon. Distribution occurs through school reading events, book clubs, book fairs, trade channels, retail stores, and direct internet sales to schools and libraries.

The company operates four primary business segments. The Children's Book Publishing and Distribution segment handles publication and sale of children's trade books and media products. The Education Solutions segment publishes classroom magazines including Scholastic News and Scholastic Scope, along with supplemental educational materials, reference products, and consulting services for schools. The Entertainment segment develops and produces kids' and family content for film and television. The International segment distributes English, Hindi, and French language books and educational materials through school-based channels across international markets.

Scholastic employs approximately 5,310 full-time employees and maintains headquarters in New York, New York. The company operates at a significant scale as a distributor to schools and libraries, with products reaching the K-12 educational market as well as consumer retail channels globally.
