The company's operations are organized into two primary segments: Consumer and Small Business Banking, which serves individual customers and small enterprises; and Wholesale Banking, which manages institutional and large corporate relationships. Wholesale Banking encompasses commercial lending, asset-based lending, investment banking and capital markets services, wealth management and private banking, institutional trust services, and international banking. Additional service lines include merchant services, payment solutions, mobile and online banking platforms, investment brokerage services, insurance premium finance, leasing, and supply chain financing.

Truist operates with approximately 37,086 full-time employees and maintains significant scale across its regional footprint. The company was incorporated in North Carolina and is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was founded in 1872 and assumed its current name in December 2019 following a merger, previously operating as BB&T Corporation.
