The company operates three primary segments: Uniform & Facility Service Solutions, which generates revenue from garment rental and lease programs as well as facility maintenance products; First Aid & Safety Solutions, encompassing safety supplies and training services; and Other, which includes non-garment items such as industrial wiping products, floor mats, and restroom supplies, along with wholesale distribution and pill packaging operations for non-prescription medicines. The company also provides specialized services including decontamination and cleaning of radioactive-exposed work clothes and cleanroom protective wear services.

UniFirst maintains a workforce of approximately 16,000 employees and serves a diverse customer base spanning automobile dealerships, food retailers, manufacturers, healthcare providers, energy companies, and various transportation and logistics operations. The company was founded in 1936 and is headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with operations established across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
