About UNITED RENTALS, INC.

United Rentals operates as the largest equipment rental company in North America, providing construction and industrial equipment to a diverse customer base including construction firms, manufacturers, utilities, municipalities, and homeowners across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The company's rental fleet encompasses general construction equipment such as backhoes, skid-steer loaders, and forklifts; aerial work platforms including boom and scissor lifts; and general tools and light equipment ranging from pressure washers to power tools.

The company operates through two primary segments. The General Rentals segment focuses on standard construction and industrial equipment rental, serving as the broader revenue driver. The Specialty segment rents specialized equipment including trench safety systems, portable power and HVAC equipment, fluid containment and treatment solutions, surface protection mats, and modular storage and office space, primarily targeting infrastructure projects and industrial applications.

Beyond equipment rental, United Rentals generates revenue through equipment sales, including used rentals sold through direct channels, brokers, and auctions. The company also sells construction consumables, tools, safety supplies, and equipment parts, and provides repair and maintenance services. With approximately 28,500 full-time employees, the company maintains an extensive physical footprint necessary to support equipment distribution and customer service across its geographic markets.
