About Archer-Daniels-Midland Co

Archer-Daniels-Midland Company is a diversified agricultural processor and ingredients manufacturer headquartered in Chicago. Founded in 1902, the company operates a global network spanning the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the Cayman Islands, employing approximately 40,800 full-time workers.

The company functions across three primary segments. Ag Services and Oilseeds handles the sourcing, merchandising, and transportation of agricultural commodities, with particular focus on crushing and processing oilseeds including soybeans, cottonseed, sunflower seed, canola, and rapeseed. This segment produces vegetable oils and protein meals sold to food, feed, energy, and industrial customers, and supplies peanut-derived ingredients. The Carbohydrate Solutions segment engages in grain milling operations—both wet and dry—for corn and wheat, producing distillers' grains and corn gluten derivatives for animal feed applications. The Nutrition segment manufactures specialty ingredients including plant-based proteins, natural colors and flavors, emulsifiers, fibers, hydrocolloids, probiotics, enzymes, and botanical extracts for food and feed applications.

The company also operates structured trade finance activities and manages commodity derivatives exposure. Recent business initiatives include carbon capture and sequestration services. ADM maintains a multimodal transportation and storage infrastructure supporting import, export, and distribution of agricultural raw materials across its operating regions.
